Miss Me

She was youn and beautiful,
thats all I could see.
She was my mother,
and the world to me. 
How lucky could I be?

We were tough to handle and reckless,
just my brother and me.
I guess you can say, 
we were just not that easy.
My brother and me.

And she would say,

You'll miss me,
trust what I say my dear.
Maybe not today,
or next year 
but,you'll miss me.

I was 20 when I got my first girlfriend,
My lovely mother was pushed aside.
These two worlds could not be one,
how she be so blind.
I was unkind.

She would ask to spend sometime together,
I'd just say "yeah, maybe tomorrow."
I was so stupid and so wrong,
I couldn't see her sorrow.
Through her heart I shot an arrow.

But she would say.

You'll miss me,
how can I make you hear.
You'll miss me,
not tonight or next year 
but, you'll miss me.

It was summer 2007,
when we got the news.
It wasn't a stroke but, cancer,
that made my mother blue.
How can this be true.

We were told we had five years,
so we made our plans.
I remember thinking,
I'll give her all I can.
I was can be a strong man.

That's when she said.

Try not to miss me,
I'm no use anymore.
My body is to weak,
what am I her for.
Please,try not to miss me.

AT 5:00pm in a traffic jam,
my father called that it was time.
I drove like a wild man,
I was losing my mind.
This live is to unkind.

That's when I whispered to her.

I'll miss you,
trust me mama dear.
I'll miss you,
today and all through my years.
I'll miss you.


 

Take this time and tell your loved ones that you love them. Tell them that when you are apart you miss them. However, above and beyond all things, never take them for granted. If they call, listen. If they need you, go to them. If they want to see you, just say yes. Its no the minutes together that you long for in the end, its the minutes apart that you wish you could have now.
